does genshin impact have anti-cheat?

While most competitive games install an anti-cheat software by default, Genshin Impact is a unique case. The game does contain a multiplayer option, but a majority of the game is played solo. The only way players could truly cheat is by exploiting the gacha mechanics or ruining another player’s co-op experience. Come join us as we determine whether Genshin Impact has an anti-cheat program.

Does Genshin Impact have an anti-cheat program?

Does Genshin Impact have anti-cheat?

Yes, Genshin Impact does have an anti-cheat program, one that operates at a kernel level. This software is most likely installed to ensure that players do not manipulate the game’s gacha system unfairly. Several members of the Genshin Impact community question the need for an anti-cheat program, due to the game’s limited co-op and low possibility for tampering.

These concerns were reinforced when Genshin Impact’s anti-cheat software began to automatically run in the background and refuse to terminate when the game was uninstalled. Although this phenomenon was fixed in 2020, some players are still wary over their system’s privacy.

Genshin Impact’s anti-cheat program is a kernel-mode driver, which means it holds a great amount of power in your system. The reasoning for this level of invasive monitoring is that some hackers seek to target the kernel level and take over the entire device. The anti-cheat program for Valorant, titled Vanguard, is also a kernel-level system. A number of players refused to install Valorant due to the game’s constantly running anti-cheat software, but it seems as if the anti-cheat scare is now over.
