During the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference 2022 (CEDEC), Game Freak shared the timeline of Pokémon games. The developer shared the timelines when they started working on their games. The information was shared from Pokémon Red & Blue to the most recent release. Since the conference was in Chinese, many of the details are still not clear yet. However, there are some interesting bits regarding the recent Pokémon games. We now know when the developer started working on Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Sword & Shield, and the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
Game Freak told many details regarding their games including graphics, and how they have improved effects such as ShaderFX. But what’s quite interesting is the fact that the development of Legends Arceus started in the fall of 2018. Meaning it was in development a year before Pokémon Sword & Shield were released. For those unaware, Sword & Shield was released in 2019 while Legends Arceus came out this year.
Game Freak has been working on Pokémon Scarlet & Violet for three years

While the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are in development since 2019. This means the development of these games started during the release of Sword & Shield. That gives the upcoming games three years of development time. And since Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and Legends Arceus were developed at the same time period, we can bet on many more similarities. Obviously, Scarlet and Violet will be more advanced as they feature a fully open-world experience. Game Freak is giving us tiny details on the upcoming games from time to time. There are many leaks and rumors about what we will see with the next games. Recently, there was a leak of convergent Pokemon, which we covered recently. THat being said, make sure to stick around for more updates.
