Gungrave G.O.R.E., sequel to 2002’s Gungrave, now has a November release date and a couple of bonus pre-order costumes.
It was August’s wonderfully daft cinematic teaser that put Gungrave G.O.R.E. on our radar; protagonist Grave steers his coffin into a group of bad guys, obliterating one, then leaps out, snaps another’s neck and unleashes absolute mayhem. Yes, this third person action game promises to be completely over-the-top but you know what? We’re absolutely here for that.
Now there’s a new trailer which, aside from revealing the game’s November 22nd release date, offers a wider look at Grave’s fellow team members. Yes, even though he’s got grumpy, grimdark loner written all over him, and is the game’s main protagonist, he’s actually part of a crime-busting organisation.
Grave’s colleagues include Bunji, the (probable) love child of Hellblazer’s Constantine and Cowboy Bebop’s Spike, Scientist and “mad genius” Dr. Aso, Eye-piece wearing leader Mika and ludicrously long-haired Quartz, who also probably goes through a lot of mugs. Then there are the villains who.. actually, it’s probably best if you just watch the trailer, just to experience their full hamminess.
The trailer also shows off some of the ludicrous moves you can pull off, blasting an entire platoon of foes at once, misusing a coffin and slaughtering enemies with style. Speaking of style, should you pre-order the game you also get two skins. O.D. Grave is a callback to 2002’s Gungrave (the game has also spawned an anime show) and the poncho-style Death Ronin Grave outfit.
Gungrave G.O.R.E. will slaughter its way onto PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC this November 22nd.
