HULK TWERK!
Warning: This is a spoiler review of Episode 3 of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.
If you thought “haha, yuck” at any point during the myriad of examples of Dennis Bukowski’s (Drew Matthews) misogyny, you’re not alone! But the real pull in this week’s episode is She-Hulk finally stepping into her new shoes. And, yeah, ok — Wong’s (Benedict Wong) entrance into the series is pretty great, too.
Episode 3 does a good job of highlighting the sheer ridiculousness of the MCU to a normal party with no interest in being a part of the supernatural side of things. Jen Walters attorney at law has absolutely no interest in hearing of mirror dimensions or erasing the world’s memories as a solution to her client’s case. If she had her way she wouldn’t even know the phrase “Sorcerer Supreme,” nor would she choose to be involved in the weird media circus that comes along with being a Hulk representing an Abomination. Still, know she does and involved she is.
Josh Segarra is given a real opportunity to shine this week as Bukowski’s begrudging representation, Augustus “Pug” Pugliese. It’s a real turn from his Adrian Chase days on Arrow, but he takes on the goofy do-gooder with ease. Episode 3 firmly establishes Pug as a member of Team Walters, not just some GLK&H stooge, which will become especially important should his character become as infatuated with Jen as he is in the comics.
“They’re gonna write a story about you one way or the other, best to be a part of it.”
This week is all about Jen taking control of her own narrative (or at least starting to). Blonksy inadvertently teaches her an important lesson before heading off to his compound with his soulmates. Folks are gonna talk no matter what — you can either be a part of that story or be a frustrated passive observer. Here’s hoping this isn’t the last we see of Roth’s character but, if it is, he’s served his purpose for the story. Besides, we’ve still got Daredevil (Charlie Cox) to get to!

Calling out the cameos from the jump in Episode 3 was a clever move for that very reason. She-Hulk is, indeed, a cameo-heavy show, and Megan Thee Stallion’s entrance only proves that we don’t know all the cards Marvel has in its hands just yet. For now, they’re doing a good job of keeping it the Jen Walters Show feat. Many Guest Stars, but maintaining that balance for the full series may be a tall order, and they could end up painting themselves into a corner if they set the expectation for major surprises that not every episode delivers on. All the same, they’ve had a solid beginning run so they’ve earned some good faith.
Who Will Be the New Avengers in the MCU?
Week 3 of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law has tied up the Abomination storyline, but it’s now at an impasse where some fans may find themselves frustrated. We’re conditioned to expect constant story progression from MCU stories, but that’s not really how the sitcom model functions. Outside of the introduction of the Wrecking Crew — those are the YMCA rejects in Asgardian gear who tried to jump She-Hulk for her blood — we’re not really sure where the series is going next. Viewer mileage may vary, but it’s still operating well within its format’s means.
