Remember how Sons of the Forest, after missing its May 2022 deadline, was moved to October of this year? We’ve got bad news.
This survival game, a sequel to the original The Forest, will see you struggling to survive on a remove island, populated by cannibals/mutants/zombies/people who want to eat your face. Yes, it’s technically open world but if it’s anything like the original, that same world will murder you the moment it gets a chance.
It was set to launch this October, but developer Endnight Games has announced it won’t be seeing the light of day until February of next year. The delay was announced on Twitter, with Endnight stating:
“Due to the scope of our new game Sons of the Forest, it has been hard to pinpoint an exact release date and today we have to delay one last time. Giving us time to complete the polish we feel is needed, we will release Feb 23rd, 2023, priced at $29.99 USD.”
Yes, they state it’s hard to pinpoint an exact release date and then give an exact release date. We’re fine with waiting for Sons of the Forest but we can’t help but feel they’re setting themselves up for a fall or, at least, another delay.
Still, whenever it does get released, you can guarantee it’ll be embraced by streamers and other YouTube personalities; the original The Forest still gets an awful lot of play time on Twitch and YouTube. Why? Largely because it’s fun to watch people panic as the mutants/cannibals/etc sneak up on them or, in multiplayer mode, fail to gel as a team.
So, if all goes to plan, Sons of the Forest should arrive on PC this Feb 23rd, 2023. In the meantime, you can pick up the original The Forest on PlayStation 4 or PC, via Steam.
