sons of the forest release date pushed back to february 23, 2023

The release date for Sons of the Forest has been delayed once again, this time coming to PC via Steam on February 23, 2023. Endnight Games

Publisher Newnight and developer Endnight Games pushed back the Sons of the Forest release date from October 2022 to February 23, 2023. The delay, according to a tweet, is said to be the last, and Endnight Games will take the time to give Sons of the Forest its final polish before it finally launches on PC via Steam next year. The developer also confirmed the $29.99 price point for Sons of the Forest on the platform. Check out the tweet from Endnight Games below.

Sons of the Forest has had three delays thus far, with two happening this year. The game was first announced in 2019 as the long-awaited sequel to the first-person survival horror crafting game The Forest. In December 2020, Endnight Games announced a 2021 release window, which was then pushed back from November 2021 to May 30, 2022. Earlier this March, the developer once again pushed the game’s release to sometime in October, before finally delaying it for a final time to February 23, 2023.

Endnight Games singled out the game’s scope as the reason for the delay, meaning that we can expect some vast gameplay changes and evolutions for Sons of the Forest compared to its predecessor. Unlike The Forest, Sons of the Forest will not launch (as far as we know) via early access, which could be the reason for the numerous delays. The Forest was in early access since 2014, followed by the official 1.0 launch in 2018.

Sons of the Forest tells an entirely new experience. This time, the protagonist is tasked with finding a missing billionaire on a remote island. However, this remote island is infested with dangerous cannibals and mutated monsters, so it’s up to you to survive with whatever tools you can scavenge and craft. Crafting is a central focus of the game, with players able to build a wide variety of equipment and structures to survive the harsh elements of the forest.

Like The Forest, Sons of the Forest will feature co-op gameplay where you and a friend can try and survive the literal green hell.
