If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to drift around aimlessly as a squid in space, atrium games has officially launched its retro arcade-style racing game that lets players do just that in Squid Drifter. As a so-called “fast-moving cheeky squid”, players must master the art of drifting through the air in the shortest time possible while navigating tricky obstacles along the way.
Out now on the iOS App Store, Squid Drifter features a retro 1-bit pixel art style where players can put their racing skills to the test in a nostalgic arcade-esque game. There are no enemies to take down or items to collect – all players have to do is master the art of precision and timing when they’re charting their course throughout the levels.
The game features simple controls where players press the left and right buttons to drift through as the squid automatically moves forward. Hitting a wall makes the squid burst, and you’ll have to start from the beginning to try again. Players can also go head-to-head with others across the globe via the Apple Game Center.
