Renown can be spent at Shez’s personal quarters to purchase permanent stat-boosting items. These can give your units valuable increases in stats, making them more potent warriors. This is extremely helpful for harder difficulties. After completing the game, you will be able to purchase additional things such as weapons and characters with Renown.

What can be bought with Renown?
